Why is the Transactions, Checks, or Portfolio tab missing on my project?
Last updated
Those tabs show only when the project has the data behind them. No transactions, no check images, or no brokerage holdings leaves the matching tab hidden.
CounselPro only shows a tab when there is something on it. A few of a project's tabs are tied to the data in the matter, so if a statement type never turned up, its tab stays hidden until it does. Nothing is broken, the tab is waiting on the data.
Which tabs are conditional
Transactions appears once the project has transactions, which happens after your statements finish processing. Before that, there is nothing to list.
Checks appears when CounselPro found check images in the statements. No checks in the uploads means no Checks tab. See where checks come from.
Portfolio appears when a brokerage or investment statement produced holdings, or while one is still processing. A matter with only bank and credit card statements will not show it. See why there's no Portfolio tab.

Two common reasons a tab is missing
The project hasn't finished processing. A brand-new project shows a setup screen instead of the full tab bar until its first statement lands on Succeeded. Give processing time and the tabs fill in.
That data isn't in the matter. If you never uploaded a brokerage statement, there are no holdings, so there is no Portfolio tab. The fix is to upload the statement type you are looking for, not to change a setting.
The Portfolio tab also depends on brokerage extraction, which is coming Q4 2026 on Plus, Premier, and single projects. Until it ships, a brokerage statement will not produce a Portfolio tab yet.
