How do I trace securities trades and dividends?

Last updated

The Activity tab under Portfolio lists every brokerage transaction: buys, sells, dividends, interest, and fees, each dated and linked to its source page.

Note

**Coming Q4 2026.** Investment and brokerage support is not live yet. This article previews how the Portfolio tab will work once it ships.

Holdings tell you what the client owned. To see what they did in the account, open the Portfolio tab and go to Activity. This is the brokerage transaction history: every trade, dividend, and fee.

What does the Activity view show?

A row per brokerage transaction, labeled by type:

  • Buy and Sell, trades in and out of a position

  • Dividend and Reinvested, income paid and income put back into shares

  • Interest, Advisory fee, and Fee, the smaller lines that still move cash

Each row shows the date, the security, the quantity, and the amount, with cash out shown as a negative. As with holdings, every row carries a Document and Page link back to the source statement.

How is this different from the transaction ledger?

The transaction ledger is the client's cash: the reconciled bank and card activity. The Activity tab is the securities side, and it is a separate system. A stock sale, a dividend, and an advisory fee live here, not in the cash ledger.

Note

Securities activity does not feed the Insights views. The income, spending, and category breakdowns are built from the cash ledger, so a dividend on the Activity tab will not show up in those totals.

To see the profit or loss when a position was actually sold, use the Realized gains tab.
