Duplicate a project, or combine a whole folder into one

Projects can now be copied and merged. Fork one project into a working copy you can experiment in, or take a folder full of projects and read all of it as a single matter. Both leave the originals exactly as they are, and neither one costs credits.

Duplicate a project

Open a project's Actions menu, or right-click it in the Projects list, and choose Duplicate project. You get a full working copy named "(Copy)", in the same folder, opened as soon as it is ready.

  • Everything comes across. Statements and their PDFs, every transaction with its category and tags, every check, the page text behind each statement, and the account names you already set. The copy holds its own files, so deleting the original later does not empty it.

  • The two projects are independent. Recategorize a few hundred transactions, prune the accounts that turned out to belong to someone else, or hand a version to a colleague, without touching the version you already cleaned up.

Combine a folder into one project

Put related projects in a folder, open it, and choose Combine into a project from the Actions menu. CounselPro builds a new project holding every statement from every project in that folder.

  • One matter instead of five. The checking accounts you opened in January, the credit cards from March, and the statements that arrived late in production finally answer one question together. The ledger, checks, insights, the AI Forensic Analysis report, and Daystrom all read the full set.

  • Accounts merge. An account that showed up in two of the source projects resolves to a single entry, so you get one directory instead of the same checking account listed twice.

  • The originals stay put. The combined project lands at the top of your Projects list, and the projects you combined stay in the folder untouched.

Copies do not cost credits

Credits pay for reading a page the first time. A duplicate or a combine reuses reading that is already done, so both draw nothing from your balance no matter how many statements they carry.
